With the end of the summer timetable and no midweek services now, my visits to the ELR in October haven't been quite as frequent as in previous months. This collection shows a number of images taken on the few visits that I was able to make. Thankfully I haven't had the usual soakings so far this month, but have probably just tempted the fates by making that statement, and monsoon like conditions will again be assured from now on! 
The weekend of the 3rd/4th of October was the last of this year's 'Family Fun Events', and I was only able to make it for the last couple of hours, mainly to get a look at the k4 steam loco "The Great Marquess", who had just returned to the line again for a several month stay, a real pleasure to see this lovely loco back on the ELR once again. October 11th was my next visit, and this time it was all steam again, with the Jinty 47324 and the Great Marquess 61994 handling all of the services, and nice to see a big loco hauling the dining train once again. Sunday 25th of October saw a rare sight, two big black steam locos on the ELR - once a common sight, but not so usual in recent months. The weather forecast said it would be a mild day, with fine weather and even sunshine, so I should have realised that they meant all of the country except Rossendale, as I was subjected to the usual gloomy skies, rain and even winds bordering on Gale Force. Anyway, 'Lancashire Fusilier' 45407 was back, even if only for a short period, and it was great to see it on the ELR again, and sharing steam duties with the Great Marquess, 61994 for the day. And yes, I did get yet another soaking and went home wet yet again!
