After the visit to one of Yorkshire's 'smaller' railways last week, it was back to one of Lancashire's this time, with my first visit to the Ribble Steam Railway at Preston Docks since October 2007.
That time it was to a diesel event, this time though it was for a normal 'steaming' weekend, and just like on my previous visits, it was a gloriously sunny day, with the Marina and Docks looking very impressive again in the bright Sun (see the Marine Galleries for more shots of these!).
The loco on duty this time was Andrew Barclay 0-4-0ST No 1147 "John Howe", which was built in 1908.
Always a pleasure to visit this friendly and pleasant railway, and moreso when the weather is like this!
As a long time radio ham, it was nice to meet some fellow hams and members of the Central Lancs ARC, who are based at the museum and operate a special event station from there. A shot of the ops is also included in this gallery, so do please pay them a visit and say hello to them if you are visiting the museum, you can also find out more about what the fascinating hobby of Amateur Radio is all about as well.
