| My first ever visit to the picturesque Dee Valley and Llangollen Railway couldn't have been better timed, the final day of the 9 day "Steel, Steam & Stars II" event, organised by the 6880 Betton Grange (Society) Ltd.
What an event this was, and not only a marvellous selection of locos on display, running in numerous combinations of single and double headers and 'top and tail', but also the grand finale comprising the "Cavalcade of Steam", which featured no less than nine steam locos - something that was so good I even put my camera down on the second run past and just watched it! They even managed to arrange for the rain to stop and the Sun to shine right on cue, with the bonus of a rainbow right over the route of the locos - well what more could you ask for! 
Locos running included: Ex-LNER D49 4-4-0 N0.246 'Morayshire', Ex-LMS 4-6-0 No.6100 'Royal Scot', Ex-GWR 'City' 4-4-0 No.3440 'City of Truro', Ex-GWR 'Dukedog' 4-4-0 No.9017, Ex-GWR 56xx 0-6-2T No.5643, B1 4-6-0 No.1306 'Mayflower', Ex-LMS 'Black 5' 4-6-0 No.44806, Ex-GWR 2-6-2T No.5526, Ex-GWR 2-6-2T '5101' and Ex-GWR 0-6-0PT No.6430. A fantastic event, well done Llangollen, great to see someone using a bit of imagination and producing an event that would please both enthusiasts and non-enthusiasts too, and for providing an event in the form of the cavalcade that I never expected to see in my lifetime.
