| The Barrow Hill Roundhouse Railway Centre at Staveley near Chesterfield in Derbyshire was the scene for a weekend of spectacular LNER super power over the weekend of 4th/5th April 2009, and what a line up they had one display there.
A1 Pacific 'Tornado' 60163, the UK's first new steam loco in 50 years made its first evre appearance on a heritage line, and proved to be a real crowd puller, and this was ably accompanied by A2 Pacific 'Blue Peter' 60532, and A4 Pacifics 'Sir Nigel Gresley', 60007, and 'Union of South Africa' 60009. Other locomotives on display and running around the yard included: Peppercorn K1 62005, Peckett 2000, HL 'Henry', 41708, Black Five 45110 and a couple of 'smaller' locos in the form of RHDR 15" guage loco 'Typhoon' 60164, and Cleethorpes Coast Light railway O4. To start the day off even better though, an extra treat in the form of the "Duchess of Sutherland", 6233, who was hauling a "Yorkshire Coronation" charter from Leicester to Scarborough and back, and passed through on the mainline just a short distance from the Roundhouse, and just before the start of the event. What a day!
