Hello, my name is Alan, and I would like to welcome you to my collection of railway photographs. I live in East Lancashire, and in this gallery you will find a number of images taken at locations throughout this area, and occasionally further afield.
All of the galleries in my Fotopics site are prefixed with the title "Windypics", and before anyone asks, this is just a pun on my surname (Gale), and a nickname that one of my friends(?) called me. From looking at some of the images in here, and the amount of times I seem to have been out taking pictures in wet and miserable weather, you might well think that a more appropriate name would have been the "Wetpics" Gallery!
In this section are some of my most recent photographs plus a number of older ones which were taken during rail visits in the early 1990s. Some of the older images were scanned from prints and slides, whilst the newer shots are all digital. I am interested in both main line (mainly freight) and heritage railways (both steam and diesel), and I can often be found somewhere on the East Lancashire Railway on many weekends throughout the year. Just look for the idiot who is out there in the pouring rain trying to take pictures, that will probably be me.
I am also interested in photographing many other modes of transport, as well as many other subjects, so do pay a visit to my Bus, Aviation, Maritime, Tram & LRT, Outside Broadcast Unit, Emergency Vehicle (Police, Fire, Ambulance etc.), Construction (Wind Farms, Building sites, major Civil Engineering Projects etc.), Truck & Crane and Heritage (everything else) Galleries if you are also interested in any of these subjects. All of these galleries can be accessed from the gallery links section above.
Please do contact me if you require any more information about any of the subjects covered here in Windypics Land, and I can always be reached via the following address: windypics at hotmail.co.uk (replace the 'at' with @). |
